Foundational teaching
A careful first map of the source-checked terms used to describe the human being, without forcing unresolved terms into one simplified scheme.
This introductory arrangement is source-checked provisional. It uses ordinary/public lessons for the first confirmed relationships and leaves unresolved Soul, Individuality and Spirit terminology for later review.
The teaching uses several connected terms for the human being, but they are not interchangeable. The material body is related to its Etheric Double. The Present-day Personality is the current expression of self-awareness in an incarnation, while the Permanent Personality describes continuity across experience. The public lessons also distinguish Material, Psychical and Noetical Permanent Atoms.
This first map deliberately does not define Individuality (Soul) or Spirit-Ego-Self until their exact relation to the controlling Greek terminology is resolved.
The Etheric Double is described as the etheric counterpart or mould of the material body. It is related to, but not identical with, the Material Permanent Atom.
The current time-and-place expression of self-awareness must be distinguished from the continuing Permanent Personality.
The ordinary lessons distinguish Material, Psychical and Noetical Permanent Atoms and connect them with the record of experience.
