This introductory practice page is based on the ordinary/public lesson of 19 July 1973. Detailed exercises and restricted Inner Circle material are not included.
In the public lesson, introspection is connected with learning to observe the tendencies, emotions, thoughts and behaviour of the Present-day Personality. Its purpose is self-knowledge: to recognise what is taking place within us with greater honesty and discrimination.
This introductory page does not turn introspection into self-condemnation and does not present an advanced exercise. It establishes the meaning needed before more detailed practice is considered.
